"I'm rather young and I have never smelled the original products so I can't speak to this product's fidelity to the original. I love vintage commercials and vintage art as I find it all very romantic so I wanted to really love this fragrance for personal use as a perfume. This is definitely a chypre type fragrance. There is a freshness to it and the "spicy" note gives it that earthy base while the florals blend nicely into an almost photorealistic flower scent. It's not for me. I had hoped it would be much sweeter and/ or more musky. It vaguely reminds me of one of those many Chance perfumes and the endless flankers. Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice scent and I do like it. I hate to say it, but I can see how some might say it smells "old" although scent is so subjective and what smells "modern/ young" vs "old" changes the way people's ideas of what names sound "old" changes with time. Even context changes scent perception (ie, labeling a scent cheese vs bo) so with that in mind, I think this would smell very classy on a man who likes men. The 5 stars is for the customer service and experience more than the scent. Nothing leaked in transit, and the notes listed seem accurate. Shipping was fast."
